VIENNA CLARINET CONNECTION
Sunday 24th - TEATRO PRINCIPAL - 19:00 h
BIOGRAPHY

The four clarinetists cultivate a maximum of sound variety, instrumental brilliance and collective sensibility. Specially the own compositions written by the members of the Vienna Clarinet Connection provide an extraordinary listening and show experience to all their audiences. Two clarinets meet basset horn and bass clarinet and become a pulsating sound experience.

There are also four strong musical personalities, who understand how to get to the limits of their instruments. Fantastic own compositions alternate with the interpretations of popular works composed by Gershwin, Mozart, Schubert or Bach and show that the quartet is deeply rooted in chamber music as well as in jazz or swing. Spanning everything it is the clarinet, which touches the hearts of the listeners again and again with its velvety sound and its all-encompassing volume.

With their quick-witted and charming presentations the four musicians lead through the program skillfully. Exciting background stories to the pieces and to the players themselves create a very special concert atmosphere. A journey of discovery through the extraordinary sound world of this instrument in quartet cast.

Helmut Hödl is principal clarinetist in the Vienna Volksoper Orchestra, Rupert Fankhauser and Wolfgang Kornberger teach at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and Hubert Salmhofer teaches at the Klagenfurt Conservatory.
